Is Disney’s representation of Pocahontas being grabbed by the white colonist John Smith as she pulls away.
The arm he grabs is bloodied and her face has been edited to have the red hand print on it which is a symbol of solidarity and awareness of missing and murdered indigenous women.
To many of us, Pocahontas can be thought of as the first documented case of missing and murdered indigenous women in literature and media and perhaps one of the most famous despite Disney’s attempt at erasure of reality and historic harm of colonists.]
